bordering on sub-conscious
but sometimes
spilling
over
in
to
paranoia
of reply
to some random email or other
only to discover
seconds...
moments...
or a pink slip later
that ALL_PLATINUM_EMAIL
had been cee-ceed
e-flame! e-flame!
spam! spam! spam!
me too! me too!

that subtle paranoia became an old friend
now moved on
perhaps to New Jersey
but once
guiding
keeping from harm
seems a forgotten dream
as though it didn't happen
yet persists
ever more real
in the deep hidden places of memory
than a favorite childhood pet
or a former love affair
lost perhaps
to foolish dreaming
or a bad television commercial
with a catchy hook
